Dotties World Sunday Challenge - Father's Day

Louise set the challenge this week and we had to create a Father's Day Card. Of course we had to use one of the Charmed Downloads.

Here is my challenge card:

As I had to make a Father's Day card anyway, I thought this challenge shouldn't be too hard.

Die Cut Dreams Challenge #1 - Green Fingers

Over on the Die Cut Dreams Challenge Blog, they have set their first Challenge - GREEN FINGERS. So you have to design a card or any other paper craft project with the theme, i.e. anything to do with gardening, flowers, plants etc.

Well I have this card already made up and it fits the bill exactly. This weeks prize is a lovely set of garden stamps it was supplied by Vikki.

For the image I chose Holly in the Garden from the many great downloads available from Charmed Cards & Crafts. She has been coloured in using prisma pencils in a lovely shade of violet to match the papers. I also used my cuttlebug to cut out two hearts from shimmer paper. For the fancy edge, I used daisy braid and coloured in the centres with a felt pen. The large daisies are Just Pots. The sentiment was computer generated. For the papers I have used downloads from Pink Petticoat.

Dotties World Sunday Challenge - 'Buttons or Beads'!

Adele set the challenge this week...
"I have tons of them but rarely use them ! Dig deep into your crafty stash and embellish away. It doesn't matter how you use them, as long as they are visible on your creation. If you haven't got any (!!!!) improvise! Only other "rule" is that a Charmed Download must be used"
Well I got up really early this morning to take the dog for his walk and then sat down to make my card. I had fun choosing different buttons to use.

Recipe:
Downloads: Darts George and Sentiment Circle, both from Charmed Cards and Crafts
Paper: Dovecraft Masculine
Tools: Nestabilities
Buttons from stash

Dotties World Sunday Challenge - 'Charmed'

Juliet set the challenge this week... "Charmed - this week's challenge is to add a charm to your project. It can be anything as long as it dangles (oops sorry, does that sound too rude?) and, of course, include one of the Charmed downloads too!"

So here is my effort

As you can see, I have made a waterfall card. I chose the lovely Holly & Madison downloads . I raided my daughter's pen box and coloured them in with felt pens. I used card from my stash which I purchase from our local papermill shop. I used a prima flower from my stash. Unfortunately I did not have any charms, but luckily found an old pair of my daughter's trousers and found the heart dangling on the waistband, so I pinched it for the card! Well I do like to recycle!

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge - Christmas

Yes - you read it right! It was Karen's turn to set the challenge this week on Dottie's World. We have to make something christmassy and also add one of the downloads. On offer too is a fantastic prize to the lucky winner.

Well I suppose its never too early to start on your christmas cards! We usually give the nephews and nieces money wallets at christmas so that they can buy whatever they want. So I made a start. To make the money wallet, I folded a piece of A4 into three, which gives you the right size of pocket for a £20 note or smaller. I used this great image from the Rock 'N Roll downloads which I know Greg will love as he is a budding guitar player. It has been coloured in using prisma pencils. For the backing paper I used paper from Dovecraft. The sentiment was created on the computer.

Just Magnolia Week 1 Challenge

Just Magnolia Challenge Blog has just started this week. For their first challenge there is a fantastic prize on offer. All you have to do is follow this sketch and of course add a stamped image from the Magnolia range.

I used the lovely Tilda one with the sunflower. I coloured her in with prisma pencils. I had some odd bits of sunflower paper hanging around in my stash and used this for the backing paper. Also used pale yellow paper which was cuttlebugged using the swiss dots folder. The dark yellow circle in the background was also cut using nestabilities and embossed with a cuttlebug folder. The ribbon used is from Dovecraft and thought it went beautifully. I made the sunflowers from the same paper and cut them out using nestabilities and cut them to the centre and shaped. The sentiment was printed off on the computer and nestabilities were again used and a gem which I coloured yellow/orange.

Dotties World Sunday Challenge - Hand Made

Its was Nicola's turn to set the Challenge this week. She wanted this challenge to be out of most peoples' 'Comfort Zone'. Everything has to be hand made, meaning no bought backing papers and if we wanted to use embellishments, then they too had to be hand made. Of course we also had to add a Charmed Card and Crafts Download, available here.
Here is my attempt. I liked this challenge this week. I used an old template that I have had for ages. It was made by a very talented lady called Shirley. Please visit her site here for more available templates. I had to cut it out all by hand. The backing papers I made up myself using my Paint Shop Pro and an image of the Aberdeen Football Club Badge. I used football George and paper pieced on an Aberdeen Football top image. The rest of him was coloured in using Prisma pencils. The other embellishments were "googled" for and printed and cut out. All have been attached using foam pads to make them stand out from the card a little bit. Finally a tag which I cut on the cuttlebug was added and of course red and white ribbons to finish it off. As you may be able to guess, Rob is a fanatic Aberdeen FC fan, so hopefully he will love this card!

Amy's Card Inspired by Dottie's World

Here is a card that my daughter made this week. She has been inspired by all the downloads available here at Charmed Cards and Crafts. She has used the Holly Hipster download and coloured her in using coloured pens. The background papers are from Pink Petticoat. The Ribbon is from Dovecraft and the flowers are Just Pots. To finish it off, she added a tag and used peel-off letters for her friend's name.

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge

It was Karen's turn to set the challenge this week and she gave us a sketch to follow.
The scalloped edge in the sketch did not have to be scallops but a fancy edge of some description. We also had to include one of the Charmed downloads. And there is a fantastic prize up for grabs too!

Here is my attempt. For the papers I have used downloads from Pink Petticoat. I think these are great as you have so many colours to choose from, so you are bound to get something to match your colour scheme, and I also thought that the image I was going for went well with the daisies on the paper.

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge - Blast From the Past!

Louise set the challenge this week... This week I want you to look through your photos of cards you've made in the past, find one you really like then recreate it using the exact same layout but with different papers and embellishments! Of course there must be a Charmed download image in there too!

So I thought I would be able to manage this one as there was no real thinking to do!! I loved the layout I used for the Chef George, so thought I would use it again. So, for the new card I used the wonderful Dottie image from the Rock 'n Roll collection. Coloured her in using Prismas and glittered her dress. For the papers I used the free download papers from Crafts By Carolyn. The ribbon is from Dovecraft, the flowers are 'Just Pots' with a gem glued in the centre. I have used the birthday sentiment which was another free download from Charmed, but I just changed the colour to suit.

And there is an extra special treat this week , EVERYONE who joins in will get there hands on an image from the next Holly and Madison collection way before it goes on sale! FOR FREE. ..... Holly in the USA..... from the upcoming Holly & Madison's World Tour.... Isn't she just gorgeous? I wonder where she will be travelling to and what lovely costumes she will be wearing?

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge - A Stitch in Time!

It was Adele's turn on Dottie's World to set the challenge this week and she loves to use texture on her cards. This week she wants to see stitching, hand or machine - but REAL stitching, no faux stitching . We must of course use one of more of the many, wonderful Charmed Downloads.

This card certainly was a challenge for me. I have never used a sewing machine before, so this was a first for me, I borrowed my mum's old sewing machine and got to work. After a few attempts I was happy enough to try it on the real paper. Please don't look too close as the stitching was not very straight!! I had plenty of fun trying though (maybe should have chosen a straight stitch to start off with). I used the download from the Holly and Madison collection. This one is Madison - so chic! Also another first for me was paper piecing. I used blue shimmer paper for the dress and hat and love the way it turned out. I used prisma pencils for the rest of the colouring. The flowers are made using nestabilities and I added Stickles to glam them up and a pearl in the middle of each one. The red and blue papers used were from Dovecraft and the other one was card which was embossed through the cuttlebug and then inked. Free sentiment circle from here, I just changed the colour to suit. Ribbon from my own stash.
